A Peach of a Drive!
We hear that the peach crop is in fine shape this season, but it won’t last long. At our July meeting, we decided to schedule a drive into Illinois to visit Eckert’s in Belleville, shop in their country store and eat some lunch. Did I mention peaches? Eckert’s has them in abundance.
The drive will be on SUNDAY July 21. We will meet at 10:00am for a 10:15am departure. The starting spot will be the Circle-K (Shell) station just across the JB Bridge near Columbia IL. Here is a link to the spot:
301 Southport Drive, Columbia, IL 62236 Start of Peach Drive
We will take a leisurely 40 mile drive into the Illinois farmland and wind up at Eckert’s around 11:30 or so. We’ll arrange for a 12 noon lunch at their restaurant, therefore it’s important to have an accurate head count. Please RSVP (below) if you plan to attend. After lunch, you can shop at the store, or head out into the orchards on Eckert’s wagons to pick your own peaches. The return to St. Louis is at your leisure by whatever route you wish.
