The entire interior was removed, apart from the dash, air conditioning, headliner, and carpeting over the rear wheel arches. The metal surfaces of the interior were deep cleaned. Carpeting was power washed, shampooed, and dried outside the car prior to reinstalling.

Door panels were removed and non-functioning door locks were repaired. Missing door handle end caps were replaced. Window glass scrapers were replaced as was one window guide track. Windlace on the driver’s door was replaced.
A prior owner installed 4″x4″ audio speakers in the front doors and ran the wires through the door hinges and under the windlace. The speakers tested good. However, the wiring was removed because it was being pinched and folded. The speakers remain in place (see photos). Two additional working 6″x9″ speakers exist in the rear cargo area, cut into the side panels. New wire was run to those speakers. The car had an original Volvo 140 monaural radio upon delivery, with audio output to a 4-way splitter to feed the speakers, but still in monaural mode. The radio was too big for the 1800 ES (wiper linkage arm would strike the radio). The radio and splitter were removed. A period-correct and working Clarion AM/FM stereo/cassette unit was installed and wired to the two rear speakers only. Cassette functionality was not tested. Radio antenna was replaced with a newer “stubby” detachable model.
Air conditioner runs well and drops air temperature at the vent 20 deg. F in three minutes.
There is a crack on the top of the dash just in front of the driver. The underside of the upper dashboard under the arch was cracked and falling away. I cut out all the loose material and painted the underlying metal black to blend in. It’s hardly noticeable.
